Computer literacy programme was initiated by the government of Tamil Nadu in all government arts and science colleges to enrich all undergraduate non-computer science students from the year 2000-2001.This course was exclusively designed to upgrade the computer knowledge for all discipline’s first year UG students except computer science students. For this programme, a separate well-equipped air conditioned computer lab with internet broadband connectivity has been developed. Each and every student has been provided with a separate terminal. Six month course is being offered with 90 hours practical and 60 hours theory classes. An examination is conducted by the directorate of collegiate education, Chennai at the end of the course and a valid certificate is issued. Every year more than 1000 students are benefited through this programme.
