Library

The library was established in the Academic year 1956-1957 with 5020 number of books. After that the General Library’s collection increased to above 70,000. This library is one of the largest repositories of information in this region. Library System consists of General Library and 13 departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes of this College. All students, faculty members and employees of the Institute are entitled to make use of the Library facilities on taking library membership.

The library is a central part of academic and research activities of the Institute. Its mission is to provide collections and services that support the educational goals of the college.

| Library Automation

The Library is fully automated with Library Automation Software ILIS (Iskooler Library Information System). It is an innovation software system for library management which contains the components of Login Register, Admin, Librarian Desk, Document Catalogue, Barcode Circulation, OPAC, and Web modules for library maintenance. Each component assists in the concern operation of library management.

The Library transactions are carried out by Bar Code Technology. It has the facility of Web OPAC-online search. So the library catalogue can be accessed through intranet, in future through internet. And the library has subscribed to online journals and E-resources in the field of Arts, Science and humanities through INFLIBNET.

| Digital Library

Digital Library was established with 10pc’s. Research Scholars and the staff members are encouraged to pursue their research work and publish their findings. Scholars shall access all the open access resources from online databases including INFLIBNET, who are providing free-access to a large number of on line journals and books.

| Rules and Regulations

  1. Silence shall be strictly observed in the Library
  2. Sign in the register kept at the entrance counter before entering the library. or Users must register their entry and exit by way of scanning the barcoded identity card.
  3. College identity card is a must for library transaction. i.e. for issue and return of books. Identity cards are not transferrable
  4. No user of the Library shall write by pen or pencil or any mark or remark or damage any publication of the Library.
  5. If any publication is lost or disfigured or if any page of picture is removed by the readers, he/she will be required to replace it by a new copy. If readers fail to do so, reader will be required to pay the present cost of the materials and also pay the fine.
  6. The borrower is required to examine the books at the time of receiving them. The last borrower will be held responsible for any damage.
  7. Reference resources (Reference books, Magazines, Journals and Newspapers) will not be lent out.
  8. Students and & Research Scholars should return the borrowed books on or before the due date, failing which a fine would be charged.
  9. During power/system failure the circulation counter services will be temporarily suspended.
  10. Readers must respect the serene atmosphere of the Library and avoid behavior likely to agitate other readers.
  11. Switch off fans and lights when it is not required
